While Lien is working at her usual begging spot, the wind blows her wig off, and as she picks it up, she looks into the eyes of the pastor, Gerhard. He forces Lien to get into the car, and when they arrive home, he tells Lien that the church has a fund to help people who struggle financially. Gerhard also offers Lien's mom a job as a music teacher at the primary school and asks if she would be willing to babysit for them on Saturday evening for a fee. Lien calls Donovan to tell him she will start working at the hair salon again. Lien dreams of her dad. She refers to her dad as "him," never using the word dad or his name. Lien wakes up in the middle of the night and finds her brother watching old videos of their family. He watches a news clip wherein her dad is sentenced to four years in jail. Braam pauses the clip on their dad's face and stares at it for a long time.
