Lien se Lankstaanskoene | A change of scenery (régtig) | English Summary

Lien se Lankstaanskoene by Derick van der Walt

A change of scenery (régtig)

Lien puts on a wig, glasses, and an old dress and takes a bus to the city to beg for money. After she has stood at the robot for a while, a lady approaches her. She angrily tells Lien that she has taken her place and must move. She moves to another crossing. Later the lady that chased her away, Roos, and another beggar, Tibbey, invite her to have a tea-break with them under a tree. Lien is angry at herself for begging and feels guilty for taking other people's money without working for it. When Lien goes to undress out of her beggar clothing, she finds Roos in the bathroom. Roos gives her advice on her sign and shoes curtly and walks away. On her way home, Lien sees she has made R150, and she buys herself comfortable shoes.

The video shows a massive waterfall with people below taking pictures and looking at it. A woman with black hair talks to the little boy beside her. A girl stands hypnotized, watching the waterfall. The little boy 'pretend pushes' the girl as if to push her over the railing.
