Lien se Lankstaanskoene by Derick van der Walt

Die Grafsteensangers

When they arrive at the hospital, the nurse tells Lien that Tibbey's legs had to be amputated. She is allowed to visit him for a few minutes even though she is not family. When she sees Tibbey, he looks scared. Lien is angry, and Dirkie tries to console her. They have coffee at a café, and there is a parrot that talks to Lien. Lien hears the parrot say, "tomorrow is another day," and " " the gravestone singers are here." That night, she has nightmares of the man with the freckles (''Sproet"), and she is angry at her mom's one-sentence reply to her message.
