Tot Siens, Koning Arthur | Chapter 14: Wat bedoel jy? | English Summary

Tot Siens, Koning Arthur deur Annelie Ferreira

Wat bedoel jy?

It’s the end of the weekend. Sylvia usually takes care of Fransie on weekends and her mother works. Sylvia has to go to the Plaaskombuis in the evening and is practising her interaction with Matthew - to avoid awkwardness. In the end, she’s worried for nothing. The restaurant was busy that day (Saturday) and Matthew hardly spoke to her. Sunday is harder - Sylvia couldn’t avoid family time. From this weekend, we can see that Sylvia and her mom are awkward around each other - there is tension in the air. On Monday, Sylvia goes to the retirement home. She is actually excited to do work there, now that she feels more welcome. She helps serve breakfast and is worried when she sees that Mrs Breed is not in the dining hall. Sylvia goes to Mrs Breed’s room and finds that she is ready but her hair is wet. Mrs Breed says that she’s waiting for her hair to dry before breakfast. Sylvia helps Mrs Breed blow dry her hair and then takes her to breakfast. In this interaction, we can see that Mrs Breed’s short-term memory is bad. Sylvia babysits Fransie for an hour before her Plaaskombuis shift.
