Chapter 24 Summary

Butcher maintains his position of no remorse for what he caused to happen to Barries' mom. He tries hard to provoke Barries, saying that he doesn’t have what it takes to pull the trigger. When it looked like Barries truly was going to fire, something changed in Butcher’s eyes that reminded Barries of Jonah. Unable to go through with it, Barries leaves the cell phone shop and heads home. On the way home; however, he was extremely paranoid and a small contingent of police officers on motorbikes passed him when he was driving home. It is only after laying low for a bit that Barries realises that perhaps those police officers were not for him. He arrives home and feels incredibly emotional. He calls Nico, who answers the phone sleepily. Barries asks that she come and be with him because he really needs someone to be around. She’s away at her fiancée’s house, but she is preparing to depart and make her way towards him. He looks at the time and it is 5 am. Not long after the end of his phone call with Nico is Barries surprised to see Paul Barnard standing at the door. Paul finally realises that he cannot simply leave Barries alone and that he is sorry that it took him this long to finally realise. Barries almost doesn’t let him in; however, Paul has decided that they should finally talk about everything.
