Die Super Shaker – Leon de Villiers

Vino and people he’s hanging out with go to ride “The Super Shaker”, an amusement park ride of significant terror, at least for Vino. They make fun of Vino for being scared, but Eileen’s boyfriend, Givan, brings the brunt of the snide comments and banter at Vino’s expense. Vino wishes he never came but he can’t back out now as they approach the carts of the rollercoaster, with Eileen deciding that they should sit at the very front. To Vino’s horror, the front seats are free – the seats closest to the edge of the world are open. He nervously sits in the soft seat, and the bar seals him in – and his fate. He screams throughout, and after what feels like an eternity, the ride comes to a standstill. The bar loosens around his chest, and he steps out, feeling just a little exhausted. Owen looks at Givan with a sly smile and asks “And this?” With green spots all over his chest and in Eileen’s hair, Vino sees the sight of the older man and loses himself in laughter, saying that it was terrific. “Let’s go again”, Vino says excitedly.
