Rules

1. There is one basic rule in the toekomende tyd - the "sal" and the verb that moves to the end. This rule works like this - you identify your first verb, once this is identified you replace that verb with "sal"and move the verb to the end without adding anything to it.

Eg. Keegan skop die bal. -> Keegan sal die bal skop.

There is a catch to future tense though - there are verbs that change when they are replaced.

Here are the verbs that change...

- het -> hê

Eg. Daniel het 'n motor -> Daniel sal 'n motor hê. (het changes to hê)

- is -> wees

Eg. Keelan is slordig -> Keelan sal slordig wees. (is changes to wees)

moet is always placed before the end of the sentence

Eg. As jy 'n goeie tennisspeler wil word, moet jy elke dag oefen. -> As jy 'n goeie tennisspeler wil word, sal jy elke dagmoet oefen.

2. Verb + preposition becomes one word

Hy tel die boek op.

Hy sal die boek optel.

3. Gaan, laat, kom, hoor, voel, sien

When you see these helping words, put it before the final verb, but only when there is two verbs in the sentence.

Ek hoor die motor brul.

Ek sal die motor hoor brul.
